Earlier this week Asos said it had entered exclusive discussions to buy the Topshop and Miss Selfridge brands from the Arcadia portfolio. The Evans arm has already been sold.
Boohoo’s update today on its talks come after Sky News yesterday reported that Boohoo was said to have indicated to administrator Deloitte that it will pay little more than £25 million for the trio of Arcadia clothing brands.
Earlier this week Boohoo inked its Debenhams deal. It will be able to use the Debenhams department store format to allow other brands it does not own to put their fashions and homewares onto a new online marketplace.
The Debenhams buy and potential Asos deal mark another headache for the high street, with scores of shops set to become vacant while many online retailers see sales soar.
