BusinessJohn Lewis head calls for an end to production slumpTen years: John Lewis chairman Mayfield issued a warning about a decade of necessary improvements By Russell Lynch9 April 2018The UK needs a decade of renewal to revive its stagnant productivity, John Lewis chairman Sir Charlie Mayfield said on Monday.The comments came as business leaders gathered at the Bank of England for a summit on the crucial issue.Mayfield’s productivity campaigning organisation Be The Business has unveiled a raft of measures to help the UK improve its performance, including mentoring for smaller businesses. The meeting, attended by industry figures including BT boss Gavin Patterson and Rolls-Royce chairman Ian Davis, was chaired by Governor Mark Carney. Sir Charlie said: “We have had 10 years of stagnation on productivity and we now need 10 years of renewal.”
