Hills danced late into the night with a bid for 888 last year, only to be ditched at the cloakroom when the target’s founder, Avi Shaked, demanded more cash.
It won’t want to chat him up again. So some whisper that Hills could buy Skybet, whose private-equity owners would be less fickle.
Hills doesn’t need to bulk up as urgently as its merging rivals, Ladbrokes and Coral, but I bet takeovers — small or large — are in the offing.
