Twitter’s most recent figures showed year-on-year user growth of just 3% compared with Facebook’s 15%. And that’s despite Facebook’s businesses having five times more users.
Given those trends, it wouldn’t be surprising to see that pitiful 3% growth turn negative in the next year or so. As for the longer term future — ask the nearest smartphone-addicted teen or twenty-something. Barely any are avid Tweeters.
None of that is to say that there is no value in Twitter’s 313 million users. I just don’t think they’re worth $14 billion — or $45 each — and that’s despite me being one of them.
