Harvey Nichols’ Stacey Cartwright to leave after shake-up

The former boss of posh department store Harvey Nichols, Stacey Cartwright, is leaving, six months after a management shake-up, the Standard can reveal.

Cartwright (pictured) had run it since 2014 before stepping aside to become deputy chairman in September when the retailer revealed it would appoint two co-chief operating officers, Daniela Rinaldi and Manju Malhotra.

The ex-Burberry finance boss, who will exit by the end of the month, said: “I leave the business in excellent hands.” Its owner, Hong Kong luxury goods tycoon Dickson Poon, remains chairman.

Cartwright is credited with modernising the retailer and bringing it into the digital age, but at a cost.

The company plunged into the red last year after it ploughed millions into revamping its flagship store in Knightsbridge, in a bid to lure from Harrods big-spending tourists attracted by the weaker pound.

Harvey Nichols made a £6.7 million loss on sales of £194 million for the year ending April 1 2017. It made a £3 million profit the year before.
