Colorado residential firm reveals London debut plan

Trade relations between the US and UK are “only going to get better”, the boss of a Colorado-headquartered temporary homes business said on Wednesday as he revealed plans for a £20 million London debut.

Tom Atchison said neither the Brexit vote or Donald Trump becoming president had deterred him from bringing his National Corporate Housing firm to the UK for the first time later this month.

The company, which made sales of $145 million (£116 million) in 2016, leases 2,500 luxury flats to businesses in the US to use for staff who need accommodation for between a month and 90 days.

In the capital it plans to buy or lease around 100 homes in the next 12 months, which it will lease out.

It intends to invest around £20 million here over the next three years.

“Many of our customers are Fortune 100 companies, and they have been pushing for us to open a London office where they can put up employees who are relocating and want to stay in a flat, rather than a hotel. In some cases they will eventually buy or rent their own home, or just go back to the US,” said Atchison.
