The Candy brothers’ former right-hand man has splashed out for the first time since leaving the siblings’ empire to launch his £150 million property firm.

Simon Stone left as a director at Candy & Candy, the interior designers behind One Hyde Park, in April.

His new business Stone Real Estate has snapped up a Hammersmith site, once home to the International Time Recording Company, the forerunner to IBM, for around £20 million.

It was advised by agent Boston Gilmore.

Plans are now under way to complete a £40 million revamp of the 40,000 square feet of offices at Riverview House by early next year.

Stone said his firm would “improve an existing building to meet the aspirations of modern occupiers”.

Before joining entrepreneur Nick Candy’s company in December 2013, Stone spent more than 20 years at estate agent giant Savills, where he was instrumental in developments such as advising Christian Candy’s CPC Group on buying the Sugar Quay site near Tower Bridge in 2012.
