A spokesman for the builder said it “is rigorously defending this claim … As the litigation is ongoing we can provide no further details at this time”.

Newlon is Arsenal’s social housing partner on about 1,000 homes built as part of the club’s move from its Highbury ground.
As part of this, the Ashburton Triangle development was completed in September 2006.
In papers filed at the High Court and seen by Construction News, Newlon claims that, following this, “it soon became apparent that there were a lot of outstanding works to be completed”.
Newlon claims Sir Robert McAlpine “sporadically performed” remedial works, which allegedly unearthed further defects.
A spokesman for Newlon said: “It is correct that the Newlon Housing Trust has issued a claim against Sir Robert McAlpine, but we do not wish to make any further comments.”
