My Fit Lifestyle challenge: week 4 update

Niki Chesworth and Laura Varnam are now four weeks into Tesco’s new My Fit Lifestyle programme.

Between us we have already lost nearly 6lb — not bad considering we have not been starving. The My Fit Lifestyle range of appetising, freshly-prepared meals and snacks is surprisingly filling and as there is such a vast choice, we have not had to endure the usual diet involving the same, bland, boring foods day after day.

However, what is keeping us on track is the online programme. Having to weigh and measure ourselves and log our food and water intake, keeping to the calorie allowance on the programme, is a great motivator. Try it. You really won’t want to see the graph line flatten (or worse, rise). The high protein food with each meal containing two of our five a day means we are filling up on the right foods, so less cravings for sugar and starch.

But the programme has other hidden benefits. All the food is fresh (that is why it tastes so good) and with the £1 delivery slots from Tesco we have been having our meals delivered to our door twice a week — that means that instead of shopping almost daily, we hardly ever need to pop out during the week, and that is a huge saving.

Planning ahead, with the useful online programme, also means we know what we are going to eat and when (a time saver) and as it is all portion-controlled and easy to prepare and serve, we are also saving on food waste.

With this extra free time, we have both upped our exercise, which we also track on the My Fit Lifestyle website, and that is another great incentive to keep to the programme.
